"Challenges and Opportunities in the Construction of Peace"

WORKSHOP 1


Title: "Visioning and constructing a culture of peace".

Coordinator: Gert Danielsen

Contents and objectives:
The culture of peace is described as an ideal construction for a pacific social coexistence. But, what is the culture of peace?, how can we recognize it? and how can we construct it? The objective of this workshop is to think about the culture of peace and explore different paths for its construction through interaction, dialogue and debate, with oral presentations and role-playing.

Approximate length: 60 minutes.

Minimum number of participants: 8 people.

Time: 1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.


WORKSHOP 2

Title: "Participative introduction to the work of violence reduction teams in conflict areas".

Coordinator: William Payne.

Contents and objectives:
A new type of intervention that uses active nonviolent techniques and creativity in cases of serious violence situations has been developed in different parts of the world during the last two decades. This workshop will offer an introduction to this work modality that is nowadays used by several international organizations such as Brigadas de Paz Internacionales (Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico), International Solidarity Movement (Cisjordan y Gaza), Voices in the Wilderness (Iraq), Project Dove (Cisjordan), Fuerzas de Paz No Violentas (Sri Lanka) y ECAP (Colombia, Iraq, Cisjordan, U.S.A.-Mexico border), among others.

Approximate length: 60 minutes.
